To allow for the possibility of abundance you have to postulate the possibility of satiation.
One might say the analysis of abundance allocation and allotment is the other side of satisficing, where satisficing posits a world where satiation can occur and describes behavior up to the point of satiation, and abundance analysis picks up from there and describes behavior beyond the point of satiation.
