Avraham (aka Avram) was the father of Yitzchoq who was the father of Yisroel. Amram was the father of Moshe who was the father of Gershom. An exalted father in Genesis became an exalted nation in Exodus.
Avram, the exalted father, sires Yishmael while Avraham, the father of many nations, sires Yitzchoq. Avram, the qualitative, exalted patriarch becomes Avraham, the quantitative, patriarch of multitudes.
