A mob is a population without a ruling class. An unstructured mass of people who do not have an appreciation for a constitution of some sort is a mob that does not understand the challenges of governance and leadership.
Constitutions comprise the leadership's rights and duties, as do covenants. For a people to fail to appreciate a covenant, like the failure to appreciate a constitution, is for them to relinquish the option of having a structured society.
To abrogate the covenant is to abrogate the leadership class of the people. It is to self-inflict on one's own people a ‘plague of the first-born.'
The spiritual leadership of a covenanted people must, foremost, appreciate the issues facing the people's leadership and their ruling class. When the spiritual leadership recasts the people under a regime that does not define the rights and duties of the people’s leadership they are, in effect, abrogating the covenant.
