For ancient wisdom to inform contemporary life

The ultra-Orthodox approach is to try to re-shape the person to fit the reality of halakha. That approach inevitably removes the person from the stream of the culture in which he is living out his life. An alternative approach would be to reframe each generation's, each culture's apprehension of halakhic teachings so that it could inform that generation's and that culture's take on their reality with the wisdom of the ancient world's perspective.
