More harm than good

The best intentions often create more harm than good. 

The UN was established to defend human rights. Instead, in the name of that defense, the UN set up permanent refugee camps for Palestinian refugees which have enabled the Arab world to use them as pawns in a power struggle that serves the refugees’ interests not at all. 

At the same time, the UN has established a Human Rights Commission that is the instrument of the most egregious human rights violators in the world. 

Attempts at mediation where extreme animosity defines the context often ends up as appeasement, and appeasement is an instrument that favors the interests of the more cunning of the adversaries.
