Arrogance and hubris

What is true for eliminating hubris (on the collective scale) – to recognize a divine, imperial power – is also true for eliminating arrogance (on an individual scale). Arrogance comes from not recognizing the beneficent power of some revered higher authority. To appreciate that higher authority and both to submit to it and to work to inculcate it into one's life and into one's society is to know one's place and to treat others with respect and dignity.
Arrogance comes of a lack of moral conviction.
