So long as American productivity was rising faster than anyone could manage, class warfare could be held to a minimum and the middle class could get its fair share. Once the economic system stopped generating wealth as quickly as could be managed, the corporate class began to focus not on productivity but on plunder. Apportionment overwhelmed allocation considerations and the great wealth transfer was underway. In all likelihood, that fateful moment occurred around 1973.
