Arousal, extension, relaxation, consolidation

Progress is achieved in nature by alternating arousal, extension, relaxation, consolidation. Neither only arousal and extension nor only relaxation and consolidation can define the activity of a healthy organism. All four stages are necessary in periodic alternation. 
Asset bubbles are excessive arousal and extension; extraction distractions are excessive relaxation and consolidation. Both are pathological.
