Sustaining a great state

Even the most enlightened of modern day Jews frame the genius of the Jewish people as their being high exemplars of the society's conventional moral principles and its code of ethics. Judaism and the following of Jewish religious principles, in this manifestation, are the best way to fulfill the prevailing secular values.
The rabbinic regime reshaped much of the requisite performance of Jewish ritual in order to serve the values of the secular host country. Whether the host country's ideology is capitalism, communism, socialism, democracy, mercantilism, or what have you, Judaism is there to serve the core set of ethical principles that makes of ordinary people a good people.
Sustainability and national resilience rarely factor into these ethical regimes, which lack makes those regimes susceptible to decay and collapse.
The Greeks sought immortality through great deeds; the Hebrews through the sustaining of a great state.
