The cosmic order and the political order

National mission ties the people to the land, and vice versa
For the people of Israel that mission includes a divine actor, so that the national mission binds the people to the land on account of God.
The two institutional pillars of society, markets and governments, are tempered in the biblical regime by the two institutions of sanctity, shabbat and miqdash, but these institutions of the social order – markets plus shabbat, and governments plus miqdash – don't particularly define any mission for the nation. That task belongs to the relationship between the people and the land.
In the case of the people of Israel that relationship is mediated by the notion that YHWH is the land's sovereign, and that the people's mission is to honor YHWH's love of the land as His creation and His responsibility.
It is in the embrace of a specific national mission for the people of Israel that the relationship between the cosmic order and the political order is defined in terms of the geo-politics.
