In the handmaidens of abundance

The vision of the biblical regime differs from the vision of class struggle or race struggle or corporate struggle. Struggle-based ideologies see the world through the lens of scarcity and inertia. The biblical regime sees the world through the lens of abundance and vitality, which is where the spiritual realm folds into the picture.
Secular humanism too easily lapses into the dark vision of a dead, sterile, angry universe, cold and uncaring, as opposed to a living, fertile, loving universe, warm and full of care and concern which is the enchanted vision of a world inhabited by God. Men seeking to understand their world have, over the centuries, turned to religion because religion is where they can find in the handmaidens of abundance the paradise that comes of caring and concern. The secular world is short on love and marred by ineradicable sense of everpresent danger and want.
