When 'the Grid' comes crashing down

The settlements in Yehuda and Shomron, which most of the world deems illegal and oppressive of Palestinian rights and dignity, are actually the vanguard solution the Jewish people are formulating for how to live in a world of failed states, a world that can no longer support the sophisticated, centrally managed social and technological systems of Western society, which we often refer to as 'the Grid.'
Terror, on the one hand, is the manifestation of the failure of large, centralized militaries and governments. To know how to combat terror is to know how to organize human habitations with the values of local military defense and local governmental authorities. The large carbon footprint, on the other hand, is the manifestation of the failure of large, central economies and markets. To know how to live with a small carbon footprint is to know how to organize human habitations with the values of local economies and local markets. It is not by accident and not incidental that Yehuda and Shomron are evolving settlements that promote ways of life that are post-carbon and terror-proof.
That is what it means for Yehuda and Shomron to be the Jewish vanguard of a post-oil world. Yehuda and Shomron settlements are each working out the details of how to survive the cataclysm of the end of oil when 'the Grid' will come crashing down and the sophisticated, brittle, centrally organized systems collapse under their own, cumbersome weight.
